Jewel Evelyn
Dodd
March 7, 1935 — June 18, 2026
Jewel Evelyn Dodd, age 91, of Killeen, Texas, passed away on June 18, 2026.
Jewel was born on March 7, 1935, in Cato, Arkansas, to James E. and Lula May Barnard. She completed her education through the ninth grade and later married her childhood sweetheart, G.A. "Buddy" Dodd, in 1951. They shared 44 years of marriage together.
As a young wife, Jewel faithfully supported Buddy during his service in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. When their children came along, she devoted herself to caring for her family and creating a loving home.
Jewel and her husband were both saved in 1964 and soon became deeply involved in their church. She loved teaching Sunday school and children's church, singing in the choir, and performing special music. When Buddy was called into the ministry, Jewel faithfully supported him as a pastor's wife in four different churches. She served through teaching, music, hospitality, and encouragement.
Jewel was a devoted woman of prayer who encouraged others in their Christian walk. She was lovingly known as "Momma Dodd" and "Granny Dodd" by many of the people she helped raise and guide in the Lord. In her later years, she dedicated much of her life to Bible study and prayer. Her greatest desire was for others to come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Jewel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, G.A. "Buddy" Dodd; her parents, James E. and Lula May Barnard; her brothers, Clyde Barnard, Charles Barnard, and Eddie Barnard; and her sister, Edith Morris.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Freddy Dodd and wife, Ann; her son, Caroll Dodd; her daughter, Dee Ann Sagor and husband, Jeff; her grandchildren, Amy Sagor and Crystal Nunley; her great-grandchildren, Jarib Nunley and Joshua Nunley; and many other relatives, church family members, and friends.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Pastor and Mrs. Adam Garber and the members of Northside Baptist Church for their love, friendship, prayers, and support during Jewel's journey home to Heaven.
