Funeral services for retired Sgt. 1st Class Jimmy O. Ridgle, 72, of Killeen will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Chapel in Killeen. Officiating will be a U.S. Army chaplain. Burial with full military honors will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. BRBRVisitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen. He died July 6, 2009, at a Temple hospital. BRBRMr. Ridgle was born May 8, 1937, in Shreveport, La. He is survived by his wife, OK Kyung Ridgle of Killeen; daughter, Marry Smith of Killeen; grandson, Jimmy Smith of Killeen; and two great-grandchildren, Jayson and Dayshawn Smith, both of Killeen. BRBRHe served in the U.S. Army for 20 years until his retirement at Fort Hood as a sergeant first class in 1983. His military awards include: Bronze Star Medal; Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal with one silver loop, National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze service stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with three. BRBRHe then started his own business, Commercial Yard Sale on Atkinson Street in Killeen. BRBRHe was a caring and loving man who always wanted to help someone.
