Funeral services for Joanne Lariviere McDaniel, 72, of Killeen, will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen with Rev. Ronnie Watson officiating. Burial will follow at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Mrs. McDaniel died Jan. 13, 2017, in Killeen. She was born Nov. 17, 1944, in Springfield, Ill., to the late Samuel and Lula Pauley. She was one of 12 children.
Mrs. McDaniel was educated and raised primarily in Maryland. She worked for the phone company formerly known as Centel as a long distance operator for 20-plus years until her retirement.
Joanne met Jessie McDaniel shortly after and they were married Dec. 15, 1990. Joanne was a practical woman whose success was not measured in the material items she accumulated through the years or the number of clubs or organizations she could have joined but measured in the love of her family. She adored her grandchildren and always put family and friends before herself.
A very good cook, she was famous for the huge meals she loved to prepare for her family and friends and her awesome BLTs. No one ever left her home hungry.
A selfless, devoted wife to her husband and a nurturing mother to her children and grandchildren, her last words before leaving this world were to ask her husband "Are you OK?" There will never be another like her to her family.
Survivors include her husband; son Richard Lariviere Sr. and his wife Betty, of Morgan's Point; daughter Tammy Campos and husband Frank, of Palestine; two sisters and one brother, Richard Lariviere Jr. of Academy; Jason Lariviere of Temple; Tamara Amescua of Temple; eight grandkids, Julian, Katie, Wesley, Chrissy and Frankie Campos, of Palestine; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
