Funeral services for Josie French Havens, 91, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Killeen Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nolanville.
Mrs. Havens died May 13, 2012.
She was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Salado.
She attended school in Prairie Dell and at Killeens Avenue D School and graduated in 1939. She married Ira Lee Pat Havens on Dec. 4, 1941, in Reno, Nev., and they had four children, three of whom survived to adulthood. Mrs. Havens worked as a cook at East Ward and Avenue D elementary schools for 17 years. She loved gardening and, along with her husband, took pride and joy in reaping the harvest of their hard, hot work of providing delicious fresh fruits and vegetables for their family dinner table and for friends, neighbors and relatives.
Mrs. Havens was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Sally French her stepmother Mamie French her husband Pat a stillborn son her sister Ruby and brothers Charles, Claude and Glen.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Walts of Killeen, Jo Ellen Harbison and her husband, Don, of Bishop, and Connie Havens of Killeen.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements
