Our dear beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt, Juanita B. Gomez, age 87 of Killeen Texas,
passed away on Thursday, October 10,2019 at her home. Juanita was born on June 24,1932
In Buckholts, Texas to Nicanor and Paula Santos Benavides.
She was united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Joe C. Gomez on July 1,1950. From
this union they were blessed with four daughters. Juanita was a homemaker, devoted wife, and
dedicated mother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and crochet She took pride in making the best holiday
dinners for her family.
She is survived by her four daughters, Mary (Jay) Vasquez, Margaret Ruiz, Diana (Rudy)
Carlos, Norma (Gus) Almandoz, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great
granddaughter. Brother-in-law and wife, Raul (Bonnie) Gomez, and numerous nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Joe 0. Gomez, great granddaughter,
Angelica Renee Barrera, sister, Margarita Prado, brothers ,Adolph Raymond, Oscar Allala Sr.,
Benjamin Benavides Sr., Edward Benavides and Nicanor Benavides Jr.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted with Harper-Talasek Funeral Home. 506 N. 38th Street,
Killeen, Texas.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM on Friday October 18, 2019, Rosary at 7pm.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church on Saturday
October 19.2019 at 2903 E. Rancier Ave, Killeen, TX. with Rev. Chris Downey officiating. The
Rite of Committal and Interment will be at Killeen City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Juanita's grandsons: John Vasquez, Erasmo Ramirez, Elliott Ruiz, Christian
Almandoz, Rodolfo Carlos III and Jon Daved Vasquez.
Juanita was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her never ending care and
compassion for others is a great example to those who knew her.
The family of Juanita would like to extend their gratitude to Scott & White Hospice for their
compassion and assistance. May God continue to bless them for the work they do every day.
