Mrs. Judith Gurgas was born August 2, 1945 in New Jersey. When she was a toddler, her parents moved to Florida in hopes of lessening her severe asthma. She sang in glee club, played the organ for church, and worked for Southern Bell
as a telephone operator. Judy was a fun-loving and comedic woman who made many life-long friends. She married her husband, John of 47 years in 1971. They had a daughter, Karin in 1973.
In 1982 they moved to Ft. Hood. Judy served as Mayor of Walker Village for two terms and enjoyed helping the community by volunteering at Army Community Services. She enjoyed gardening and working in the yard which earned her the Quarters of the Month Award twice and resulted in her winning the Quarters of Year Award for Walker Village. Judy also volunteered at the Humane Society in Killeen. She had a passion for helping cats in need and a big heart when it came to animals.
Judy will be missed by all her family and friends who know and love her for loving jokes and thoughtfulness. She always knew when someone was having a bad day and how to pick them up and put them in a great mood. She will always have a special place in their hearts.
