June Contino

June Contino, 77, of Killeen, passed away on November 12, 2023. Funeral services will be held at the Central Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery on Tuesday, November 21 at 9 am. There will be a formal procession to the cemetery leaving from Harper-Talasek Funeral Home at 8:15 am. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 20 at the funeral home from 5-7 pm.

June was born on July 4, 1946, to parents, Joseph John Douchette Sr., and Gertrude Alma Harris in New London, CT. This is where June grew up, graduating from high school and marrying Lawrence A. Contino on June 21, 1969.

A member of the Church of Nazarene for many years, the moral she lived by was to always let your children know you love them no matter what is going on. To always stand behind them, even if you don’t know what is going on, and to continue praying and loving them. June spent her years as a housewife and mother. She loved to spend her time on crafts of all kinds, especially embroidery. She enjoyed baking, even creating wedding cakes for other members of the family.

June is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph John Douchette and Gertrude Alma Harris; brothers, Walter, Bobby, Joe, and Larry Douchette; her twin sister, Joyce Scarpa, and her eldest sister, Lorraine Bowles.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 beautiful years, Lawrence A. Contino; son, Shawn Q. Contino and his wife, San Juan; daughter, Ilona A. Lawson (Contino); sister, Jean Porter; and grandchildren, Kyle M. Lawson, and Laila Lawson.
