Kenneth Davis

Funeral services for Kenneth Dale Davis, 78, of Harker Heights, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at HarperTalasek Chapel in Killeen with an Army chaplain officiating. Mr. Davis died July 10, 2011, at a Temple hospital.

He was born March 25, 1933, in Hoopston, Ill. He graduated Hoopston High School and later graduated from the University of Mary HardinBaylor with a B.A. in accounting.

He served 23 years in the U.S. Army with tours in Vietnam. He retired at Fort Hood, where he worked for civil service in the Corps of Engineers as an auditor and engineer tech.

He retired after 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Davis of Harker Heights sons, Scott Smith of Columbus, Ga., and Mark Smith of Birmingham, Ala. daughters, Karen Walker of Bedford, Laura Simmons of Bedford, Teri McCartt of Temple, Kathryn Lunsford of Harker Heights, Susan Plagens of Harker Heights and Mary Davis of Harker Heights 16 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren.
