Laura Mae (Osborne) Carpenter, who was born on March 7th, 1938, to the late Thomas and Nellie Osborne in the small town of Paradise, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 13th, 2022, at Advent Hospital in Killeen, Texas.
She married the love of her life, the late Luther Carpenter Sr., on June 5th in 1954. Together they raised five children; Deborah (Cannavan) Woodward from Bennington, Vermont, Dianne Rock, married to Thomas Rock from Killeen Texas, Betty Gorman, married to John Gorman Sr. of Dothan, Alabama, Sally Garrett married to Rick Garrett from Killeen, Texas and Luther Carpenter Jr. married to Lori Carpenter from Lampasas, Texas.
Laura was a proud military spouse, and it was evident that she loved her family. She worked various occupations, to include a successful Tupperware sales representative career, earning a car, and working the line at the Eveready Plant in Bennington, Vermont, prior to retiring in Killeen, Texas. Laura was an amazing cook and loved to cook for her family and friends, her pies and apple turnovers were a favorite of many. You would often see her crocheting blankets and baby blankets for those she loved, blankets her family and friends will cherish forever. Laura loved to fish, and could out fish many, in her spare time you could find her at the lake, on the boat, off the dock, with a fish pole in her hand. She enjoyed the outdoors, watching the Hummingbirds and driving through the country looking at the wildflowers. She loved cheering for the Rangers Baseball Team, and the Dallas Cowboys Football Team.
She is survived by her five children, Deborah (Cannavan) Woodward, Dianne Rock (Thomas Rock), Betty Gorman (John Gorman Sr.), Sally Garrett (Rick Garrett), Luther Carpenter Jr. (Lori Carpenter), twelve Grandchildren, twenty-eight Great Grandchildren, and twelve Great-Great Grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her faith in God was strong and will always be loved and remembered.
