Laura Samis

Laura was born in Huron, South Dakota on August 20, 1949 to Harry V Samis and Eileen (Dailey) Samis. She grew up in Letcher, South Dakota and graduated from Huron Senior High School in 1967. She graduating from Huron College in 1971 and married Michael Myers of Emmetsburg, Iowa in 1972. Five years later, the family moved to Springfield, and then Mankato, Minnesota, where she taught school. For the last three decades, Laura has been a customer service representative at Carlson Craft, FedEx and later G.C. Services when she moved to Texas to be near family.
Laura is preceded in death by both her parents, her infant brother, Patrick Samis and Dan Samis, a close cousin.
Laura is survived by her son, Christopher Myers and daughter, Elizabeth Myers, plus her grandchildren Destiny and Aaron Myers. She is also survived by her Samis cousins, who considered her a sister: Joe, Mark, Jim, Judy, Sean, Pete, Greg, Kevin, Aaron, Ben, Jean and all of their families.
Laura had a fond love for animals, especially cats. She loved reading and sharing her books and thoughts with everyone. She would play a wicked game of "Words with Friends." She loved to make sugary sweets and blankets for her neighbors, co-workers, and friends.
She was very proud of her family, near and far. Every summer, since 2011 Laura would travel with her cousin Judy to visit all of the South Dakota: family landmarks, people, and cemeteries where all of the Samis' are laid.
