Services for Lewis Prentis Carter Sr., 85, of Copperas Cove, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Living Center in Copperas Cove, with Pastor Billy Sanders officiating. Interment will be at Seville Cemetery in Seville, Fla.BRBRCarter died May 6, 2008, in a Temple hospital. He was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Blackshear, Ga., where he was raised and educated.BRBRHe served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Southern Pacific. After he retired as a salesman, he was very involved in his church serving as a deacon for The Trinity Living Center in Copperas Cove.BRBRCarter was a member of The Chariots of Light Christian Bikers.BRBRCarter was preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Rosetta Mae Carter; his brothers, H.O. Carter, Tois Carter and Don L. Carter; and his sisters, Ella Mae Clark and Willie Bare.BRBRSurvivors include his sons, Timothy M. Carter of Jacksonville, Fla., L.P. Carter Jr. of Osteen, Fla., and Jeremy L. Carter of Aledo; his daughter, Carmen Allura Long of Copperas Cove; his grandchildren, Lewis Prentis Carter III of Deltona, Fla., Lee Prentis Carter of Pleasantville, N.C., and Brian Ben Carter of Lake Helen, Fla; and his great-grandchildren, Shelby Carter, Lewis Prentis Carter IV and Lane Garrett Carter.BRBRVisitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home, which is in charge of services.
