Lonnie Flurry

October 18, 1958 — August 16, 2016

On October 18, 1958 a baby boy, Lonnie Lee Flurry was born to Everlyn Woodis and Obie Maxwell. Lonnie was one of eleven children born to his mother.

Lonnie's elementary education was completed at Moffett Grade School. He completed High School at Roland High School in Roland Oklahoma in 1976. At 17 years and 7 months of age, four days after graduation, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp, shipping out to Camp Pendleton, California. He served in the US Military for a total of twelve years; Four years in the United States Marine Corps and eight years in the United States Army. At an early age, before entering the military, Lonnie accepted Christ as his personal Savior while attending services at New Morning Star Baptist Church in Moffett Oklahoma.

Lonnie married his hometown sweetheart, Sheila Sands early in his life, however the marriage dissolved.
Later in his life he met and married his second love, Bertha Robertson. To this union there were three children, a daughter, LaKeisha, the love of his life, and two sons, Tyrell and Brenton, two young men that made their father very proud. Lonnie's love for them was evident by the way he talked about them. The love of them all for their father was very special and evident to the last day of his life. Lonnie was a very kind, loving, mild-mannered, and generous person.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his companion of 19 years, Cynthia Smith, Daughter Keisha (Ahmad) Parks of Killeen, Texas, Son Tyrell Flurry of Silver Spring, Maryland and Brenton Flurry of Los Angeles, California, the mother of his children Bertha Robertson of Rockville, Maryland, son Benny McClure of Haskell, Oklahoma, daughter in-law Regina McClure of Haskell, Oklahoma; Six sisters, Mary (Monroe) Castleberry of Roland, Oklahoma, Earnestine (James) Jones of Roland, Oklahoma, Sally (Darnell) Blaine of Pocola, Oklahoma, Lucy Parker of Roland, Oklahoma, brother-in-law Bobby Parker of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Minnie (Calvin) Johnson Sr. of Moffett Oklahoma, Rosa (John) Layes of Fort Smith, Arkansas; six grand daughters, two great grand sons six nephews, six nieces, four grand nephews, four grand nieces, four great grand nephews and two great grand nieces; One very special aunt, the patriot of the Flurry family, Virginia Lee Pankey of Fort Smith, Arkansas and a host of cousins and friends in various states, including Sequoyah County and Fort Smith, Arkansas.
