Lula Mae Washington was born to Joe Eddy and Nancy Jane Fulbright on December 13, 1945 in Waco, Texas. She moved to Brownfield, Texas where she met the love of her life, Willie Calvin Washington, and were married on March 14, 1964. Lula was gainfully employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant for over 30 years at multiple nursing homes in Brownfield and Copperas Cove, Texas. Her colleagues often commented that she was a hard working woman with a gorgeous smile who treated all her patients with dignity and respect. Colleagues have also stated that her kindness has left a life-long legacy as an employee. Lula was an awesome cook best known for her homemade biscuits A.K.A "my mama's biscuits"; she would bring our family together with her amazing meals. She was a gentle, tender, loving and forgiving person who loved and welcomed everyone into her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Calvin Washington, Joe Eddy and Nancy Jane Fulbright (parents); Brothers: Willie Lee, Odell, Joe Willie, Billie, Othell, and Johnny Fulbright; Sister: Mary Louise Fulbright.
She is survived by her sisters: Josephine Ervin (Waco, TX), Eddie Mae Joiner (Mart, TX), and brother, George Ray (Mart, TX).
David Lee Fulbright of Mart, Ruby Fulbright of Mart, Linda Griffin (Michael) of Austin, Carolyn Wilson (Richard) of Seagraves, Doris Slay (Ronald) of Killeen, Willie Washington Jr. (Emily) of Oklahoma, and Bobby Washington of Dallas. She also has 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws who all love her and will miss her dearly.
