Services for Margaret Lucille McGowan Wommack Peggy Lucy will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at HarperTalasek funeral Home in Killeen with Dr. John C. Hallum from East Side Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.

Mrs. Wommack passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Indian Oaks Living Center in Harker Heights, Texas. She was born on December 9, 1924 in Dania, Florida to John Soloman and Margaret Dicey Booth McGowan.

She earned her nursing degree from Palm Beach College and Good Samaritan Hospital in Lake Worth, Florida in 1945.

Margaret loved her country, her family and her lifelong work as a Registered Nurse. She was very dedicated to her nursing career caring for children and especially the babies in the NeoNatal Intensive Care Unit. She retired in 1988 at Darnell Army Medical Center, Fort Hood, Texas after a 43 year career in nursing.

She was a faithful Christian and active member of East Side Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 490, in Killeen for many years until she became ill.

Mrs. Wommack was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, James Eugene Wommack. Also preceding her in death were her parents, her grandson, John Jeffrey Robertson her brothers, Edward and Edwin McGowan her sisters, Lena Timmons, Johnnywell McKinney, Quida Faye Douglas, Juanita May Shadle, and Sarah Elizabeth McGowan.

She is survived by her son, James Stephen Wommack her daughter, Margaret Suzanne Wommack Robertson Ben R. her granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Robertson Wells Byron T. her grandson, James Benjamin Robertson Nicole and her greatgrandchildren, Claire Elizabeth Wells, Jack Thomas Wells and Liliana Licari Robertson her brother, Charles McGowan, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home, Killeen, Texas.
