Services for Maria E. Bess, 90, of Killeen will held at 12:30 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Killeen, Texas on Monday, March 9th, 2015 followed by interment at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, Texas. Maria passed away at her home March 2, 2015. Maria was a devoted wife and mother. Maria is survived by her husband of 61 years, Author D. Bess. Surviving children are Debra Jorgensen, Virginia Acevedo, Sarah Ploug and Sonny Bess. Maria has 7 grandchildren and 5 great-granddaughters. Maria's numerous volunteer activities included coaching girl's softball, being a Cub Scout Leader and a Brownie Leader. She was a member of St. Joseph for over 50 years and a Red Cross Volunteer for 15 years. Hobbies included sewing, ceramics and volunteer work at St. Joseph Church.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Sunday with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen.
