Ms. Gomez died May 22, 2017, at a Temple hospital. She was born Sept. 27, 1971, in San Felipe, Guanajuato, Mexico.
There is only one way to describe Maria and that is "God Sent." Anyone who has known Maria whether it be family, friends, or strangers knows there is always one thing they leave with and that is her smile. Her ability to light up a room with that smile that is so contagious. Maria was always happy, kind, generous, loyal, and loving. She was an amazing Daughter, Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Grandmother. She welcomed everyone into her life and filled it with so much love and acceptance. Maria was so kind that she opened the doors of her home to all those who needed a place to stay. She would give you the clothes off of her back just so that you would be comfortable. Maria loved to dance and listen to all types of music. She would dance the night away from start to finish and not be tired. Maria was most definitely created by God and brought into this Earth to fill it with all of the Love God intended the Earth to have.
We all ask God to provide and protect us, and all the while we had one of his best angels in our lives. She has been called to heaven to serve as a guardian to all those she loved. She will be able to touch so many more lives from heaven where she will soar near and far to keep us all safe. Maria was selfless and she would want us to live selflessly. We must not be angry but glad in the fact that although we can no longer touch her, hug her, or kiss her she will always remain where it is valued the most in our hearts.
Among those who preceded him in their earthly deliverance from this life are her father, Roman Rios and grandparents.
Those left to rejoice in their memories of her include her mother, Catalina Barraza; three daughters, Maria Babian and husband Jose; Rubi Selene Gomez and husband Bernabe; Carol Jacqueline Garcia and husband Rafael; seven grandchildren; 8 siblings, Juan Rios and wife Angelica; Jose Rios and Manuela Rios; Esperanza Rios; Roman Rios and wife Maricela; Rogelio Rios and wife Veronica; Ana Rios West and husband Timothy; Maria Elena Rios; Hector Rios and wife Nicole.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
