Funeral services for SFC (Ret) Martin M. Garcia, Jr., 75, of Killeen will be held at 10 am on Monday, June 20, 2016 at St. Pauls Chong Hasang Catholic Church
in Harker Heights. Burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with Father Richard O'Rourke M.S.C officiating.
SFC (Ret) Martin M. Garcia, Jr. passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital.
Martin was born on August 12, 1940 in Taft, Texas to the late Martin Garcia and Tomasa Martinez. He served in the United States Army for 21 years.
He served tours of duty in Germany, Korea and Vietnam. He was a very decorated veteran having earned Good Conduct Medal Clasp, Bronze, 5 Loops;
National Defense Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Bronze Star Medal; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w Palm;
Expert Rifle and Pistol; Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars and Purple Heart. After his honorable discharge from the Army he served
20 years of civil service at Fort Hood.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Francis Garcia; a brother, John & Nellie Garcia; daughters, Sylvia and Gordon Wolverton and JoAnn and Hector Reyna;
son in law, Jr. Guzman; grandchildren, Ray Wolverton, Daniella Wolverton, Stefanie Regan, Samantha and Casey Bielli, Victoria Guzman; and Marenna Reyna;
great-grandchildren, Ayden, Ashton and Austin Bielli. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tricia Garcia; a sister, Nilda Nieto; and a brother Raymond Garcia.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Harper Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen. Rosary will be recited at 7pm.
