Memorial services for Mary Rose Mueller, 58, of Killeen, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen with Ken Adams officiating. Ms. Mueller died April 26, 2011, at a Temple hospital.
She was born March 16, 1953, to John R. and Mildred E. Worm Sonstegard in St. Paul, Minn. She grew up in Buffalo, Minn., and was the youngest of seven children. One of her favorite childhood stories was how she enjoyed ice skating to and from school in the Minnesota winter.
After graduating from Buffalo High School in 1971, Ms. Mueller attended St. Cloud State University, where she earned a bachelors degree with a major in English and a minor in theater. She had a passion for teaching others and after her retirement from civil service, Ms. Mueller worked fulltime as an aide at Shoemaker High School and parttime as a notetaker at Central Texas College. Her greatest fulfillment in the final years of her life was making a difference in the lives of the students she worked with by teaching, mentoring and encouraging them to become more than they ever thought possible.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Mildred E. Sonstegard, and her eldest sibling, Edward.
Those alive to celebrate her life include her son, Dustin Mueller and his wife, Isabelle her brothers, Gene, John and Gary Sonstegard her sisters, Linda Jacobson and Glenna Kuvat and all whom she has ever made smile.
HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen is in charge of arrangements.
