Mary Zavala

Services for Mary Rita Zavala, 79, of Killeen, were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen with Father Gonzalo Ferrer officiating.

Burial was in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Mrs. Zavala died December 13, 2015, at her residence in Killeen, Texas.

Maria Rita Martinez was born August 8, 1936, in Cuero, Texas to the late Sisto and Elvira Martinez.
She married Ruben V. Zavala on April 8, 1961 in Temple, Texas.
They were blessed to have three children together; Ivan, Ruben and Blanche.

Mrs. Zavala was preceded in death by her son, Ivan C. Zavala SR; her parents, brothers, Charlie,Tony, Sisto and Frank Martinez; step sisters, Chavela Ramos, Estella Mungia and Elida Martinez.

Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Ruben V. Zavala; son, Ruben J. Zavala and his wife Linda; daughter, Blanche R. Perliski and her husband Greg; sisters, Lucinda Lancaster and MaryAnn Richhart; grandson, Ivan C. Zavala JR.
