Max Fergus

Funeral services for Max Vinson Fergus, 90, of Belton, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church Trimmier in Killeen with the Rev. Weldon Hicks officiating.
Mr. Fergus died Jan. 7, 2014, at a local nursing home. He was born Jan. 15, 1923, in Killeen. He was a lifelong resident of Killeen. He was a graduate of Temple High school class of 1940. His college education was interrupted by World War II, where he served with the Army in the Pacific Theater. Upon returning from the war he married the former Miss Gladys Jean Wills and he also resumed his studies and became a graduate of Texas AM class of 1944. Max then began his career in the Auto industry, owning a dealership in Abilene as well as the first Ford dealership in Killeen, Fergus Ford. He was a member of the Killeen City Council in 1958 and a member of the Abilene Board of Directors. Mr. Fergus was a member of the Abilene Board of Directors of Abilene National Bank. Mr. Fergus was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Fergus parents, Marvin and Anna Fergus and two brothers, Dan and Guinn Fergus.

Survivors include three sons, Mark Margaret Fergus, Kenneth Chris Fergus and David Susan Fergus and numerous nieces and nephews.
