Melba Jean Douglas Daggs, 81, passed peacefully to her eternal rest on February 10, 2015 in Killeen, Texas.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents Joe T. and Fern Douglas, husbands Ernest Bethke and Homer Daggs.
Melba was born in Oakalla, Texas on September 6, 1933 to Joe T. and Fern Douglas. Melba was raised in the Central Texas area and eventually settled in Killeen Texas. She spent most of her life as a homemaker. Melba was married to Ernest Bethke with whom she had her son, Michael Daggs Sr. She later married Homer Daggs with whom she had her son, Joe Daggs. Melba could be found in support of her sons or her grandchildren no matter athletics, livestock shows, dance or choir performances, she always wanted to be in the middle of it.
She is survived by her sons Michael Daggs Sr., and wife Becky of Clyde, Texas; Reverend Joe Daggs and wife Sharon of Killeen, Texas; her loving brother Bob Douglas and wife Sharon of Morgan's Point Resort, Texas; grandchildren Michael Daggs Jr., and wife Caroline of Tuscola, Texas, Stephen Daggs of Clyde, Texas, Ashley Daggs of Lubbock, Texas, and Jordan Daggs of Killeen, Texas; great grandchildren Lucas Daggs and Lauren Daggs of Tuscola, Texas. She is also survived by nieces and nephews whom she loved very much: Cindy LaFlair and husband Jay, of Temple, Texas, Bobby Glenn Douglas of Temple, Texas, Carl Duewall of Morgan's Point Resort, Texas, Dana Johnson and husband Jeff of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, Steven Duewall and wife Darcie of Houston, Texas, Richard Douglas of Temple, Texas, and K.D. Hill and husband Graydon of Salado, Texas; many great nieces and nephews as well as family and friends.
Melba was a gifted care giver and provided care for several home bound or nursing facility patients. Melba was raised in Memorial Baptist Church and later attended Faith Temple and most recently was a member of the Maxdale Cowboy Church for the last eight years.
Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, American Diabetes Foundation, or Maxdale Cowboy Church Building Fund.
