Melvin E. Baker, 89, a beloved husband and a beloved friend, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on June 23, 2011, surrounded by those he loved.
Visitation will be held at the HarperTalasek Funeral Home on Sunday, June 26, 2011, from 68 P.M. Services will be at 10 A.M., Monday, June 27, 2011, at the Memorial Baptist Church, 4001 Trimmier Rd., Killeen, TX, with Reverend Weldon Hicks officiating. Burial will follow services at Killeen City Cemetery. Mr. Baker was born September 16, 1921, in Killeen, TX. He had lived in Killeen the majority of his life. He was a retired rural mail carrier.
During his life he exemplified love, kindness, strength, and courage to all who knew him. He was sustained and guided in his walk in life by his firm belief in the Lord Jesus Christ. We, his family and friends, release him to our Heavenly Father in the confidence that we shall all be reunited in heaven. We now rejoice that he is at peace in the arms of his Savior.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Baker parents, Troy and Lee Baker and brother, Darrel Baker. Mr. Baker was a member of Masonic Lodge 1125 in Killeen, TX. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, a Shriner, and a member of the KAREM Shrine Club. He was also a life member of both the VFW Post 9192, and American Legion Post 223, in Killeen, TX.
