Memorial services for Melvin O. Mac McCommas, 72, of Killeen, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen, with the Rev. Gary Garza officiating.BRBRThe body will be cremated.BRBRHe died Jan. 4, 2008, at his residence.BRBRMelvin was born Dec. 4, 1935, in Tulsa, Okla.BRBRIn his younger life he was a singer and lead guit,ar player in a band.BRBRHe received his BA in business administration from Oklahoma City University and his MBA from Southern Methodist University.BRBRMelvin worked for Texas Instruments in Dallas and later moved to Killeen and then started his own entrepreneurship. He was the owner and operator of several pawn shops in Central Texas. He also started a computer program development company.BRBRMelvin loved hunting and fishing, and was an avid reader and computer gamer.BRBRHe was a former member of the Killeen Rotary Club, past president of the Texas Association of Pawn Brokers and past president of the Central Texas Association of Pawn Brokers.BRBRHe was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Irene McCommas; son, Mark McCommas.BRBRSuvivors include his wife, Janell of Killeen; sons, Kirk McCommas and his wife, Paula, of Waco, Scott McCommas and his wife, Patty, of Florence; sister,BRBRSandra Sawyer and her husband, Loren; cousin, Joe Pat Edwards, of Georgetown; daughter-in-law, Toni McCommas of Eddy; grandchildren, Jasen McCommas, Brian McCommas, Bradley McCommas, Megan McCommas, Alex McCommas, Justin McCommas, Kyle McCommas, Daisy Ramirez, Diana Medina, Kate Tessmann; and eight great-grandchildren.BRBRMemorials may be made in the name of Mark McCommas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O.
