Interment services with full military honors for retired SSG. Michael L. Oas, 63, of Killeen, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.BROas died Oct. 26, 2008, in a Killeen hospital. He was born Aug. 1, 1945, in Menomonie, Wis.BRHe was educated in Waukesha, Wis. He joined the U.S. Army in 1964, served in Vietnam, his military awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Good Conduct Medal sixth award; National Defense Service Medal with one service star; Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars; NCO Professional Development Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon with No. 4; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry; DriverMechanic Badge with Driver-W; Expert Rifle; Pistol and Grenade Badge.. Upon his retirement in 1993, he went to work for the city of Killeen as a driver of a solid waste truck. He retired from there after 15 years.BRSurvivors include his wife, Kathleen Oas of Killeen; his son, Harold Oas of Temple; his daughter, Angela Oas-Morello of Las Vegas; his brother, Richard Oas of Milwaukee, Wis.; and one grandchild.
