Services for Monroe H. Holloway, 88, of Killeen, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Skyline Baptist Church. Interment will be at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Holloway died March 21, 2010, in Temple. He was born April 18, 1921, in Albion, Okla., to the late Rueben and Winnie Ladd Holloway. He married Dorothy Lee Curnutt on July 14, 1939. Mr. Holloway served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War and retired in 1966. His awards include Campaign Ribbon with two bronze stars, Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal 5th Award, two Overseas Service Bars, Combat Infantry Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Korean Ribbon with five Bronze Stars and Letters of Appreciation two. He retired from Centel phone company in 1983.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Holloway of Killeen a son, Ray Holloway and his wife, Elfriede, of Killeen daughters, Doris Stark and her husband, Nelson, of Round Rock, Cheryl Garza and her husband, Henry, of Temple seven grandchildren 12 greatgrandchildren three greatgreat grandchildren a brother, Alton Holloway of Mount Pleasant and sisters, Vivian Shrader and Imogene Moore of Grand Saline and Jane Callahan of Mesquite.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lee Holloway. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
