Funeral services for Nelson J. Basco, 82, of Killeen, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Killeen with Dan Carter and Boyce Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Killeen City Cemetery with full military honors.
Mr. Basco died June 14, 2013, at a Temple hospital. He was born July 20, 1930, in Gorum, La.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 147, American Legion post 223, Korean War Veterans Association and the Sheriffs Association of Texas.
He also served in the Army for 20 years with tours in Korea and Vietnam and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with V Device, Good Conduct Medal third award, National Defense Service Medal with first Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge second Award, and Expert Rifle Badge. He retired as a sergeant first class.
Mr. Basco was preceded in death by first wife, Nela, and his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Jean of Killeen and stepsons, Mitchell Whitaker of Killeen and Ronald Whitaker of Fort Worth.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
