Services for Norwood Barr, 85, of Killeen, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen with Vicar Kathi Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Killeen City Cemetery. BRNorwood Barr was born March 15, 1924, in Killeen and was raised and educated in Bell and Lampasas counties. BRHe was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Killeen.BRMr. Barr served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. He was a Technician fifth grade, assigned to the Medical Detachment, 1849th Service Command Unit. BRHe worked for Brown and Root for several years at West Fort Hood. He went into civil service for 10 years working on a special weapons project. Norwood ranched for five years and also worked at the Gatesville Correctional School. BRHe retired at Fort Hood from AAFES after working 20 years, which also included three years in Spain and England. BRHe worked as a sales representative for Pearl Co. and was a greeter at H-E-B on Gray Street and a greeter for First National Bank at Fort Hood. BRMr. Barr was the son of the late William Bill and Annie Griffin Barr. He married Doris Springman Barr Sept. 13, 1952. Survivors include his wife, daughter, Pam Barr Behrens; granddaughter, Shanna Behrens Connor; two great-grandsons, Shawn Ferguson and Zander Connor, all of Killeen. BRHe was preceded in death by two brothers, Denver and Estle Barr. Those that knew him, loved him. He never met a stranger. He always treated everyone like they were family. He will be missed. BRIn lieu of flowers, make donations to Immanuel Lutheran Church at 1104 N. Fourth St., Killeen, TX 76542. BRVisitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
