Ofelia F. Herrera, 92, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2019, at home surrounded by her family. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Ofelia was born to Concepcion (Rodriguez) and Benjamin Flores on January 6, 1927 in Corpus Christi, TX. After graduation from high school she worked at Woolworth as a sales clerk.
On August 10, 1952, Ofelia married Ramiro “Ramie” Herrera at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Corpus Christi. Their family was complete with the births of 3 daughters, Sylvia, Elsie and Rita. In 1963 they moved and bought a home in Killeen, Texas, to raise their family. She lived in her home until her passing.
Ofelia liked being outside in the hot Texas sun! Her favorite activities were gardening, walking, sewing, playing BINGO, making flower arrangements, listening to music and being out on the dance floor with Ramie.
She was a long time member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Killeen and volunteered for church and school activities. She and Ramie had a year-round routine making “cascarones” for the Fest-of-All for 30 plus years.
Ofelia is preceded in death by her husband "Ramie" in July 2009.
Ofelia is survived by her three daughters and a son-in-law; Sylvia Larson of Eau Claire, WI, Elsie and Delmar “Del” Morgan of Killeen, TX and Rita Bjorkman of Madison, AL; five grandchildren, Tony Larson, Tracy Larson, Adam Morgan, Nicole Scholz (TJ), Brittany Bryant (Derek); five great-granchildren, Michael Larson, Magdalena Larson, Raelyn Bjorkman, McKenna Bryant and Tucker Scholz. She is also survived by three sisters, Armandia (Garfield “Garf”) Osckel, Elida Riojas and Yolanda (Tony) Codarmaz; two brothers, Robert (Evelyn) Flores and Benjamin Flores; and many loving family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Harper -Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Killeen Memorial Park.
