Pete Martinez

A funeral service for Pete Hernandez Martinez, 94, of Killeen, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Tom Chamberlain officiating. Burial will follow at Killeen Memorial Park.

Mr. Martinez died Jan. 12, 2018, at a local nursing home. He was born May 19, 1923, in Del Rio to Francisco and Micaela Martinez.

Mr. Martinez was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Killeen. He was also a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 4724.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Delia Gutierrez Martinez; and his parents, Francisco and Micaela Martinez.

Survivors include sons Pete G. Martinez and his wife, Emma, of Murphy, and Bobby G. Martinez and his wife, Debbie, of Killeen; daughter Melba M. Thompson and her husband, Tommy, of Killeen; grandchildren Pete B. Martinez, Neil Martinez and Justin D. Thompson; great-grandson, Santos Martinez; a sister, Eva Muniz of Brady, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
