Memorial services for retired Sgt. 1st Class Ralph C. Harris, 69, of Killeen are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen. A U.S. Army chaplain will officiate.BRBRHarris died May 29, 2008, at his residence. He was born Oct. 26, 1938, in Bridgeton, N.J.BRBRHarris had been a resident of Killeen since 1997. He was a 20-year Army veteran, with one tour in Vietnam. He was also a member of VFW Post 9192.BRBRHis military awards include the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal; RVN Gallantry Cross with palm; OS Bars two; Good Conduct Medal 4th Award; Good Conduct Medal Air Force; and Vietnam Campaign Medal.BRBRSurvivors include his son, Ralph Harris, and his wife, Christine, of Kempner; his daughters, Mary Harris of Killeen, Betty Sue Simental of Calif., and Ellen Ray Yzaguirre of Houston; his sister, Ruth Duffy of Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 6.5 great-grandchildren.
