Services for Ramiro Ramie Herrera, 87, of Killeen will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Killeen Memorial Park. BRBRRamie passed away on July 6, 2009, at home surrounded by his loving family. BRBRRamie was born to Prudencio and Isabel Herrera on April 23, 1922, in Laredo. He married Ofelia Flores on Aug. 10, 1952, in Corpus Christi, and they made their permanent home in Killeen in July 1963. BRBRRamie is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ofelia; three daughters and two sons-in-law; Sylvia Larson of Eau Claire, Wis., Elsie and Delmar Del Morgan of Killeen and Rita and Shay BJ Bjorkman of Madison, Ala.; five grandchildren: Tony Larson Heidi, Tracy Larson Jeff, Adam Morgan, Nicole Morgan, and Brittany Bjorkman; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Larson and Magdalena Larson. BRBRRamie served in the U.S. Army during World War II, Korea and Vietnam and retired in 1966 after 20 years of honorable service. He continued serving the Army as a civil service employee, retiring after 20 years in February 1988. BRBRRamie enjoyed a whole-year routine of making cascarrones for St. Joseph Fest-of-All since September 1974. He relished in a good game of poker, but, most of all he loved dancing the jitterbug with Ofelia. BRBRThe family will receive guests and friends for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Harper-Talasek funeral home, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. A lunch reception will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic School cafeteria after the interment.
