Rebecca White

Rebecca Jones White, 93, went home to her Lord on Friday, March 21, 2014. Mrs. White was born in Augusta, Georgia on January 6, 1921, to Alberta C. Jones and William D. Jones. She grew up in Augusta and attended Lucy Laney High School. She married SFC Wesley Lee White on October 29th, 1959, in Temple Texas, and they made their home in Killeen. Mrs. White was an excellent homemaker. She shared these skills with several families in the area. She did beautiful needlework. She made intricate baby quilts and many needlepoint and crocheted articles to decorate her home. Mrs. White gave her life to Christ at an early age. Her grandfather was a preacher and she was raised in a home where God was supreme. On moving to Killeen, she united with the Marlboro Heights Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Roscoe. A. Abercrombie, Sr. She loved her church family and her Pastor, Sean Moton. She was very active in Womens Missionary Society Number I where she served as secretary for many years. She also sang in the Womens Chorus. For years she worked with teen girls in the church. They have charming stories of the life lessons she taught them. She emphasized lady like, moral and Biblical behavior. Mrs. White saved the wedding announcements and invitations to the weddings of many of the young women.
