Richard Albert Thigpen, Jr, 67, died Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center following a long battle of Multiple Myeloma.
He was born in Summit, New Jersey to Richard A. Thigpen, Sr. and E. Vernice (Culver) Thigpen. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Army. After some time in the States, he was stationed in Korea where he met Chae, Ton Cha in Uijeongbu, South Korea in 1973. They later married and had 2 children both born in Korea. They returned to the US in January of 1981 when he was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. He would remain in Killeen, Texas after completing 13 years in the military.
He had a passion for old movies, especially Westerns, and old music, mainly Motown. He also loved to cook, which would later turn into his profession. He loved giving out recipes to anyone, anywhere. His specialty was Steak and Ribs. He loved Ice Cream even though he was lactose intolerant.
He leaves his wife of 41 years, Ton Cha Thigpen; his son, Richard A. Thigpen III; his daughter, April R. Buzzard; and his granddaughter, Alexandria R. Buzzard; his mother, E. Vernice Hutchinson; his sister, Cheryl Jackson; his sister, Valerie Thomas; and many close relatives and friends.
