Ricky Lane Miller was entrusted to the parental stewardship of Georgia and Willie E. Miller February 16, 1965. He accepted Jesus Christ as personal Savior and sought to serve Him as Lord as a Christian disciple in development at the Marlboro Heights Missionary Baptist Church.
His educational pursuit began at St. Josephs Catholic School in Killeen Independent School District, graduating from Killeen High School in 1984. After graduating from KHS he attended Southwest Texas State University. Readily known by those blessed to encounter him, Ricky possessed a remarkable and unique ability to exercise and appreciate humor and laughter. Whether it was mimicking a celebrity, a wise crack about a person with intention of turning a negative situation into a positive perspective or selflessly and creatively utilizing himself as a target of laughter for the benefit of bringing a moment of cheer to others, Ricky always proved to be the laughter of the predicament, problem or party.
Gifted with the flavor of an infectious personality, he graciously shared his love for life and laughter with Central Texas as a radio disc jockey, AKA Shaun Jackson and Rico Star. His was an anticipated voice for many years between stations KIIZ 92.3FM and KISS 103.1FM. Many to most with an appreciation for listening to him will long remember him as the host of the Tom Joyner morning show. His personality and skillful manner of communicating over public radio characterized him to be admirable and appreciated in the hearts of many people. The fruit of his pursuit of employment rewarded him a wealth of opportunities to enlighten people through customer service. Over the years, he was employed by Burger King in Copperas Cove and Office Depot in Killeen. He was also employed by TXU Electric Company as a meter reader.
Anyone who knew Ricky can attest to the love affair with Music. His love for music may well be attributed to his rhythmic appreciation for listening and often calculating the beat of the songs he could play as a drummer. From the tender years of his youth, Ricky can be recalled as always having something for which to create rhythm. An avid percussionist as a member of the band at Killeen High School, there was virtually nothing that Ricky could not find some form of rhythm to compliment the music amenable to his listening delight. He took great pleasure in serving the Lord as he was afforded opportunities to minister behind some of the music of gospel recording artist, Carolyn Traylor. His most loyal service to gospel music was spent in praise and worship as primary drummer for the music ministry of Marlboro from 1995, until his health declined.
In fulfillment of his God given purpose, his earthly tenure concluded on February 22, 2010, when he answered the upward call of his Heavenly Father to embrace eternal rest.
Among those preceding his deliverance from this life are his mother and father: Georgia and Willie E. Miller. Among those who remain to await the certainty of an eternal celebration at the reunion in the Presence of our Lord are: a wife: Stephanie Miller and one beautiful daughter: Ashlyn Grace Miller one uncle: Gene Miller, Dallas, TX and a host of cousins, and close friends
