Robert Earl Gibson

August 14, 1943 — November 30, 2024

Killeen

Robert Earl Gibson, known to his family as “Earl” and to friends as “Bob” was born August 14, 1943, in Conway, South Carolina to Marion and Pauline Gibson. He passed away at the tender age of 81 on November 30, 2024, at his home in Killeen, Texas. Earl spent his formative years in Youngstown, Ohio with his 6 brothers and his sister. Earl graduated from East High School in Youngstown, OH, and then enlisted in the United States Army from March 1965 to February 1967, where he toured to Germany and back. Earl also worked for LAX airport for over 10 years and later retired. Throughout his lifetime, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.

Earl gave his life to Christ at an early age, and always made sure that his family knew the Lord. Earl was a devoted father, he loved spending time with his children, sharing stories of his youth, cooking, and even sharing the care of his stepchildren and one of his grandchildren with his long-time partner Margaret Jarmon. He was always the one to call when guidance or support was needed. No matter what obstacles he faced, he never backed down from a challenge.

In his free time, Earl enjoyed reading, fishing and helping others no matter where he went. He also loved watching westerns, listening to spiritual songs, singing, dancing, and fixing anything he could put his hands on, from cars to watches. Earl left a lasting mark that will not be forgotten to all who knew him; he will be deeply missed.

Earl was preceded in death by his common-law partner Margaret Jarmon, 2 children Robert and Marsha Gibson, his parents Marion and Pauline Gibson, and 2 brothers Joe and Sam Gibson.

Earl is survived by (Earl leaves) 3 daughters April (Joseph) Murphy of Killeen, TX., Robin (Tommy) McNeil of Surprise, AZ., and LaWan Battle of Copperas Cove, TX., his siblings Shirley Ray, Donald (Margaret) Gibson of Youngstown, OH., Willie (Frieda) Gibson of Canton, OH, Johnny Gibson of Riverdale, GA., Paul Morgan of Washington, DC., along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
