Mr. Dickerson died Monday, March 16, in a Temple hospital.

He was born of Oct. 30, 1958, to George and Bertha Dickerson in Andrews, S.C. He was raised and educated in Andrews, S.C. He joined the U.S. Army in 1979, retiring in 2001. His decorations include the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; the Army Achievement Medal ninth award; the Good Conduct Medal seventh award; the National Defense Service Medal; the Southwest Asia Service Medal with three bronze service stars; the NCO Professional Development Ribbon with No. 3; Army Service Ribbon; Kuwait Liberation Medal; the Sharpshooter Badge; the Air Assault Badge; and the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Antigonemarie Dickerson.

Survivors include; four daughters, Christina Dickerson of Honolulu, Raunita Dickerson of Tulsa, Okla., Debora Dickerson of Mississippi and Allison Dickerson of El Paso; two brothers, George Dickerson Jr., and Gilieon Dickerson, both of Georgetown, S.C.; four sisters, Georgiann Burguss, Elizabeth Meyers, Patricia Langley and Cynthia Wilson, all of Andrews, S.C.; and his mother of Andrews, S.C.
