Killeen

Roswitha Gertrud Rice, 80, of Killeen, TX, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving sons, and her beloved dog, Buddy. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 22 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen beginning at 6pm.

Rose was born in Grossheubach, Germany on February 26, 1944, to her late parents, Johan Brand of Grossheubach, Germany and Anna Schadt of Kleinheubach, Germany. Though she only had four biological children, there were countless people who referred to her as “Mom”. Many also called her “Mutti”, “Oma” or “Rosie”. She was employed with AAFES for 40 years, where she received numerous citations, awards, honors, plaques, medals, and decorations for her proficiency, service, and excellence.

Rosie spent all of her wonderful years spreading love, joy, sarcasm, and sass to any and all around her.

She is survived by her 4 children, Michael Rice of Moody, TX, Detlef Rice of Lake Jackson, TX, Christine Sherrell of Canton, OH, and Mario Rice of Killeen, TX; 12 grandkids, Brendan and his wife, Lisa, Jacqueline, Detlef Jr., Mason, Calvin, Aidan, Addison, Will and his wife, Dionne, Jonathan, and Donielle; and 10 great-grandchildren, Melody, Juliana, Mario, Eli, Radleigh, Olivia, Isis, Ayden, Shiloh, and Kyle Jr.

She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
