Services for Ruth Jordan, 86, of Killeen, will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Marlboro Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Killeen with Dr. Shaun L. Moton officiating. Burial will follow at Killeen Memorial Park.
Sister Jordan peacefully embraced eternal peace, sleep and rest on February 19, 2008 as she responded to the loving call of her Lord and Savior.
She was born to Will Henry and Annie Mae Ferguson on August 5, 1921 in Camden, Arkansas. The fourth of ten children, her birth would signify the witness of God's manifested glory. Pleasant and delightful are two words which characterize the essence of her presence and personality, as she lived and loved to enjoy life.
In the tender years of her youth she accepted Jesus Christ, as her personal Savior. Her decision to live under his Lordship began when she united with Saint James Baptist Church in Camden, Arkansas.
Her determination to serve the lord would continue when she moved to Detroit, Michigan and united with Warren Avenue Baptist Church. Here, the Lord would grace the church with her precious personality for sixty years.
In 1997 the Lord would order her steps to establish residence in closer proximity to her son in Killeen, Texas. Shortly after her arrival, her devotion to her Lord led her to unite with the Marlboro Heights Missionary Baptist Church. Here she faithfully attended and participated in worship, church activities and outings. Her witness in worship gave visible and verbal affirmation to the glory of God manifested in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents Will Henry and Annie Mae Ferguson; two sisters: Shirley Porchia and Lucy Ferguson; four brothers: James Ferguson, Layman Ferguson, Henry Ferguson and John Willie Ferguson.
Survivors include her son Jerry Massie Yvonne, Killeen, TX; three grandchildren: Jerry Nikitus Massie Dallas, TX; Derrick Emil Massie, Arlington, TX and Courtney Yvonne Ladson Nathaniel of Killeen, TX; two great-grandchildren: Nate vyonne Ladson and Naetasha Ladson both of Killeen, TX; three sisters: Verdana Foreman and Lessie R. Roddy both of Camden AR and Elizabeth Hemstead, Pomona CA; one brother: W.M. Ferguson, Camden AR; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Living now, better than she has ever lived before, we take comfort in the certainty of our glorious reunion with her in eternity.
