Sandra Gibson

February 9, 1970 — November 19, 2021

Sandra Lyn Gibson, age 51, Sandy to her friends and family (or T-Bird to her father), was received in the arms of her mother and her savior Jesus Christ on Friday November 19th, 2021. Sandy endured many health challenges in her life, yet always lifted others with her smiles and joyful heart.  She never knew a stranger and anyone who met her, always regarded her as a dear friend.

Sandy was a member of the Harker Heights United Methodist Church (HHUMC). She loved her church family dearly. She had a heart for service, often helping at HHUMC, and often worked at KNCT FM as a pledge volunteer for the station.

She enjoyed reading tremendously, with some of her favorite authors being Louisa May Alcott and Laura Ingalls Wilder. She enjoyed listening to music and twice attended concerts by her favorite artist, Bruce Springsteen. She was quite overjoyed when her favorite team, the Atlanta Braves won the World Series. She was a loyal Braves fan for many years, even when they were not so Series worthy. She was passionate about Guiding Light, General Hospital, Chicago Med, and her latest TV series; Supernatural. She was a connoisseur of ALL things Supernatural.

Sandy was born on February 9th, 1970 to Hayden and Mary Elizabeth (Williams) Gibson Jr at Fairbanks, Alaska. In 1970, the military brought the family to Fort Hood, Texas. She graduated from Ellison High School in the year of 1988. Sandy then obtained her associate degree in Business from Central Texas College.  At her father’s retirement, the family has maintained residence in Killeen since 1982.

Sandy is preceeded in death recently by her brother-in-law, Ronald Fitz-Randolph; and her dearest mother Mary Elizabeth Gibson who departed two days prior to Sandy. She is also preceeded in death by her dearest friend Kimbra Wilder Gish.

Sandy is survived by her devoted father, Hayden Gibson Jr.; her brother William (Janice) Gibson, and sister Susan Fitz-Randolph; her aunt Marilyn Mayes, along with many other aunts, uncles, & cousins, and several nieces and nephews-Amber Fitz-Randolph, Josephine (Timothy) Springer, Nicholas Gibson, and Andrew Gibson, and great nieces-Izabelle Weir, Zoe Springer, and Alexis Springer. She is also leaves behind her dearest friends, Linda Halverson and Beth Robinson.

On the day she lost her life-long battle to kidney disease, the angels in heaven wept along with her beloved family, friends, and countless “Scrubbie Friends” who share her passion as fans of General Hospital.

Visitation for Sandy and her mother will occur on Sunday from 4-6pm at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen, Texas. Services are Monday morning at 11am at Harker Heights United Methodist Church. In memory of Sandy please consider donations to honor her life long fight to the American Kidney Fund (; or to honor her love for Christ and her church family, donations may be given to Harker Heights United Methodist Church.

As her dear mother would say every night: “Rest in Heavenly Peace, Sandy”.
