Sarita Saygo

Sarita R. Saygo, the daughter of George Miller Jr. and Susie Miller, was born September 11, 1964 in Anchorage, AK. Sarita departed this earthly life and was carried away by Angel's on Thursday June 20, 2019 in Temple, TX.

Sarita was a happy but at times a shy child who always wanted to do things her own way. Although a shy child, she would always protect her three younger siblings no matter what. She was also a character, she would at times pull certain antics for her siblings by putting on her Father's hat and boots and stand on her head to make them laugh. At an early age she was active in most sports to include basketball, softball, volleyball and track. This precocious beginning was a sign of things to come. She was a self-motivating, no-nonsense, hard-working, quick learning woman who loved to help and care for others. She always talked about owning her own Restaurant one day. She loved to cook and host gatherings and got plenty of practice for her restaurant with her large family.

Sarita received her primary education at St. Francis Catholic Elementary school in Natchez, MS. She then attended Mission Jr. High in Omaha, NE. From there she went on to graduate from Bellevue East High School "Chieftains" in Bellevue, NE. While there, she netted many accolades. Some of those achievements include: 1982 All State Team in the state of Nebraska; three year starter and two year captain. She also led the Chieftain Basketball team to be ranked 6th in the state of Nebraska. From 1983-1985 she attended Midland University in Freemont, NE for a General Studies Degree off of a basketball scholarship. While completing two years at Midland she broke the record for assists (13) in a basketball game. In the words of her former teammate Vicki Stroud, "Sarita was amazing with her passing". With the efforts of her teammates, they helped Midland attain the No. 1 national ranking during a span in the 1984-85 season.

In 1984 while attending College Sarita met and eventually married former Spouse Kenneth Saygo in 1989 in Omaha, NE inside of her parents Recreational Room. They would then go on to bless the world with three beautiful children. Because of Kenneth's service in the United States Army, the family was deployed with him to such locations as Wurzburg Germany, Schweinfurt Germany, Frankfurt Germany, Fort Drum, NY and Fort Hood TX. So you could say that she served also. In 2000, Kenneth received Military orders to be stationed at Fort Hood, TX (Killeen) what she would then call her forever home.

Sarita worked numerous jobs in Food Service and Corrections. From 1991-1995 she worked as a Food Service Worker on USAG Wiesbaden Army base in Wiesbaden, Germany. From 1997-2000 she worked as a Food Service Worker on USAG Schweinfurt Army Base in Schweinfurt, Germany. She worked 6 plus years as a Food Service Worker in Military kitchen settings. Her knowledge of a wide variety of kitchen equipment, cooking techniques in fast-paced environments and her proven ability, aided her to produce large numbers of meals under tight deadlines for Soldiers and Civilians throughout Germany. From 2001-2017 she worked in Corrections at CCA Bartlett State Jail in Bartlett, TX. During her time at Bartlett she eventually met someone who she would soon call her life partner, Delena Allen. While at Bartlett she held many positions such as Corrections Officer, Sergeant and Lieutenant. During her time at Bartlett, she completed the Samberg Leadership Training, where she displayed extraordinary skills in trust, integrity, respect and loyalty to other Officers. She also completed the Master Key Leadership (MKL) 100 training. She was named employee of the month three times and named employee of the year in 2012 while at Bartlett State Jail. From 2017-2019 she worked as a Resident Supervisor and Captain at the T. Don Hutto Residential Center in Taylor, TX. During her time at T. Don Hutto, she completed the MKL 200 training. She did serve a brief stint at the Adam's County Correctional Center in Natchez, MS from December of 2017 through June of 2018 as a Captain. While serving 18 years in the Corrections environment, she was very resourceful and dedicated with motivational leadership, training and employee supervision.

She always promoted people around her to work harder than expected, give unselfishly, show up on time, quit complaining, show good manners, be humble and show gratitude, be kind and generous and to surround yourself with great people. She would always tell her children to, "handle your business".

Her legacy on this Earth was knowing and teaching others to be good to people. And also knowing that before leaving this Earth you know how many people hearts you touched.

Among those who loved and will live to cherish her memory until the resurrection and union at the return of our Lord are her Parents: George A. Miller Jr. (Colorado Springs, CO) and Susie Miller (Des Moines, IA); Three Children: Kenneth Saygo (Killeen, TX), Darian Saygo (Killeen, TX), Kenesha Saygo (Killeen, TX); Three Siblings: George A. Miller III (La Vista, NE), Sonya D. Miller (Killeen, TX), Stevan D. Miller (Penni) (Des Moines, IA); Two Grandchildren: Marquell and Daveon Saygo (Killeen, TX); Life Partner: Delena Allen (Killeen, TX) and a host of Family members, nieces, nephews, friends and significant loved ones living throughout the country.
