Funeral services for retired SFC Christopher Burns JR., 58, of Killeen, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday
at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen with Reverend Jimmy Towers officiating.
Burial will follow with full military honors in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Christopher Burns Jr. died Aug 5, 2017. He was born Jul 27, 1959, in Longview, TX, to the late Christopher Burns Sr. and Alene Charles Burns.
He graduated from Longview High School; afterward, he entered the U.S. Army. While serving his country, he received the following awards and citations: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4TH award), Army Achievement Medal (4TH award), Army Good Conduct Medal (8TH award), Nation Defense Service Medal (2ND award), Overseas Service Ribbon (3RD award), Expert Marksmanship Badge with Pistol Bar, Driver and Mechanic Badge with Operator-S Bar, Silver German Fireman Qualification Badge.
He served his country for 24 years and retired from the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge. After retiring from the military he worked as a gate guard at Fort Hood, TX before being employed by Darnall Army Medical Center as a Security Administrator for the Provost Marshalls Office. He pursued an Associate Degree from Central Texas College and later a Bachelor Degree from Texas A&M.
In 1992 he met Linda Marie Alexander and on Apr 8, 1994 they were married, in Kummersbruck, GE. They shared many wonderful memories together and traveled to various places throughout his military career.
Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Angela Nicole Burns and sister, Grace Dews.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Linda Marie Burns; sons, Christopher D. Burns, Terry Burns, Shakka Moore; daughter Kenya Moore, daughter-in-law, Laticia D. Burns, granddaughters, Angela C. Burns, Kayana , Victoria, Alexyza, and Cyril Moore, grandsons, Christopher D. Burns Jr. and Jabari Moore, sister, Louis Henry, brother-in-law, Dwight Dews, nephew Fred (Little Bother), niece (Dorthy) and a host of other nieces nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel.
