Sfc (Retired) William Eppley Iii

November 2, 1947 — February 5, 2022

Killeen

Early Saturday afternoon, February 5, 2022, the Lord called his faithful servant, William Patrick Eppley III, 74, into eternal rest. “Bill” as he was fondly known, was born November 2, 1947, in Clementon, New Jersey to the late William Patrick Eppley II and Doris Dorene Lambertson. He was the couple’s only child.

He graduated from Overbrook High school in Pine Hill, New Jersey in 1967 and then enlisted in the United States Army May 23, 1967. Bill met the love of his life, Susan DiTullio, through mutual friends in Clementon, New Jersey in 1969. Bill and Susan married September 7, 1969 and had three children. Bill served 22 years and is a Vietnam Veteran. During his service he continued his military education and served as a chaplain’s assistant. Bill received many letters of recommendation throughout his military career for his devotion to duty, work ethic, self- discipline, constant strive for professional improvement, and leadership.

He professed his faith in Jesus Christ in 1973 and was baptized with his wife in the Neckar River in Heilbronn, Germany. He was a member of First Assembly of God and served as a song leader as well as a bus driver in the bus ministry. He relocated to Ft. Hood in 1977 moving his membership to First Assembly of God Killeen, Texas where he served in the choir. More recently, his church home is Harker Heights First Assembly of God.

Always a kind, humble, loving, gentle man in all he did. His resilience through each battle with cancer and a variety of health setbacks, he kept a smile on his face and held a positive outlook with an abundance of strength. Bill enjoyed attending church, fishing, shooting at the gun range, watching crime shows, telling dad jokes, and playing with his puppies. Bill recently took on a new interest in painting.

Bill was passionate about his family and leaves a legacy of love, forgiveness, spiritual wealth, and a variety of lessons to include “pulling up our bootstraps” and “don’t bull wink the moose”. He also leaves with cherished memories his wife of 52 years, Susan Leigh Eppley; daughters Susan (Khalid) Chaudhry and Christina ( Tomas) Ramos; son Billy Eppley; granddaughter Nicole McNally; grandsons Jameel Chaudhry, Khalil Chaudhry, and Malik Cullens; great-grandson William Eppley-Lauff; inlaws, friends and church family.

In remembrance of Bill’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to First Assembly of God; PO Box 2406 Harker Heights, Texas 76548.
