Private family graveside services with full military honors for retired Sgt. Maj. William G. Gilmour, 75, of Killeen will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Mr. Gilmour died June 24, 2010, in a Temple hospital.

He was born Sept. 17, 1934, in Rockford, Ill., where he was educated. He was drafted in 1956 and served in the U.S. Army for 24 years until his retirement in 1980 at Fort Hood.

His military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal with Silver Loop, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 60, and Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars.

After leaving the military, he worked for civil service as a personnel action tech. He was an avid golfer and he loved reading. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Survivors include his wife, Maria of Killeen daughters, Tina and her husband, Dr. Shawn Isdale, of Harker Heights, Sylvia Elenburg and her husband, Kirby, of Runaway Bay and Maria Gilmour of Friendswood brother, Jack Gilmour of Mesa, Ariz. grandchildren, Sagen, Sterling, Sommer, Skylar and Spane Isdale, all of Harker Heights.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund or Fort Sam Houston Fisher House, Brooke Army Medical Center, Building 3623, George C. Beach Road, Fort Sam Houston, TX 782346200.
