Shelia Calkins

Funeral services for Shelia Lynn Calkins, 63, of Killeen, will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at HarperTalasek Chapel, with the Rev. Jimmy Towers officiating. Burial will be Jan. 4, 2011, in Houston National Cemetery.

Mrs. Calkins died Dec. 25, 2010, in a Temple nursing home. She was born Nov. 1, 1947, in Stamford.

She attended high school in Irving, and met her husband, Robert, in 1967 and married him in 1968, in Dallas. She volunteered in the Highland Hospital in Shreveport, La., and supported activities for the Shreveport High School band.

Survivors include her husband, Robert D. Calkins of Killeen son, Robert Calkins Jr. of Killeen daughters, Cynthia Gibson of Baltimore, Md., and Melissa Pierce of Houston brother, Jerry Rains of Leonard and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Grace Rains and a brother, Stanley Rains.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
