Shirley Norman

Funeral services for Shirley Jo Norman, 73, a life long resident of Killeen, are at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Killeen with Rev. Randy Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at the Killeen City Cemetery.

Shirley went to be with Our Lord and Savior August 8, 2008 after a year long battle with cancer.

She was born April 4, 1935 to Carmen Odis Lovorn of Killeen.

Shirley was involved in many clubs and organizations. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Killeen. She enjoyed decorating for the 1st Thursday activities. Shirley was a member of the Granny Dancers, the Wednesday Review Club, and the Killeen Firemans auxiliary.

In June Shirley attended her 50th consecutive State Firemans and Fire Marshalls Association of Texas in Beaumont. Shirley served on the board for over 20 years, first as secretary then as President. She had served as president of the Longhorn Chapter of ABWA. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and served as Killeen Library Committee secretary.

Shirley was preceded in death by husband Ben, her parents, an infant baby girl, and her brother Gene Lovorn.

She is survived by her daughter Karen and son in-law Richard Tucker. Her grandchildren Melissa Tucker Johnson and her husband Chris and Travis Tucker.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund in her memory.
