Shirley Peterson

Funeral Services for Shirley Louise Davis Peterson, 88 of Belton (or Killeen),Tx will be held at 12:30 pm, Monday, November 21, 2022 at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home chapel in Killeen with Deacon Jim officiating. Interment will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 5-7 pm at the funeral home, with recitation of the rosary beginning at 6 pm.

She died on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Stoney Brook Assisted Living in Belton. Shirley was born September 20th, 1934 in Panama City, Florida, the daughter of H.G. Davis Sr., and Ernestine Dean Davis. She was raised and educated in Pearlington, MS. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald H. Peterson Sr. (Pete) on July 29th, 1956. They were blessed to celebrate their 50 year wedding anniversary. During their marriage, she was a devoted wife and homemaker while raising their three sons, Donald (Donny), Kirk, and Kevin. Being the military wife, she lived in many places such as Germany, Mississippi, and Texas making long-lasting friendships along the way. Shirley and Pete both enjoyed having friends over to play cards into the early hours of weekend nights. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas, and she enjoyed decorating the house with holiday nut crackers she collected while living in Germany and holiday cards from loved ones.

Survivors include her sons, Kirk Peterson (Lucy) of Oak Point Tx and Kevin Peterson; five grandchildren Kathleen Peterson, Johannah Peterson, Eilish Peterson Pruitt (Dillon), Sean Peterson, Kyle Peterson (Shandi); and two great grandchildren Madilyn Peterson and Makenzie Peterson.
