Ulysses Fleming

March 16, 1944 — August 1, 2010

Ulysses H. Jack Fleming was born in Macon, Georgia on MArch 16thy, 1944, to Dorothy Harper and William Lindsley. Later the family would move to Detroit, Michigan, where Ulysses lived until the age of 20.

In 1963, Jack would be drafted into the U.S. Army and spend the next 23 years. While serving at Fort Hood he met and married Shirley Anna Gaither in 1976.

He completed tours of duty in Vietnam, Germany, and several tours in the continental United States. In 1986, he was honorably discharged at Fort Hood, Texas as a Sergeant First Class. Jack is a Vietnam War veteran and received many honors and awards while serving his country. As a civilian Jack became a contractor and accepted a Supply Operator position with DynCorp and Raytheon. These assignments took him to Kosovo, the Republic of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and elsewhere.

Jack was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church of Killeen, where he regularly attended service with his wife. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion. In Jacks later years he would spend time with family by visiting and traveling to different parts of the U.S. where his children and other family members reside, accompanied by his wife Shirley. He liked golf, fishing, playing cards, dominoes, shooting pool, spending time with family, and many sporting events.

Ulysses Fleming, Pops as he was affectionately called by his children, leaves his cherished memories, his devoted wife, Shirley Ann Gaither Fleming six sons: Sean Fleming, Eric Fleming, Arthur L. Reed, Jeffrey H. Reed, Reginald S. Reed, Timothy W. Reed four daughters: Kimberly J. Fleming, Kanesha MadisonFleming, Paula E. ReedSpriggs, Rosyln A. ReedHarris brother: Brian Lindsley sisters: Diane LindsleyButler, Tracy Lindsley, Niecie Lindsley, Sandra Lindsley, and Elaine LindsleyUkwuoma seventeen grandchildren eight greatgrandchildren, and a host of other nieces, nephews, and many other friends and family members.

Ulysses was preceded in death by his father William Lindsley and mother Dorothy Lindsley, as well as his brother Michael Lindsley and sister Peggy Watson.
