Valerie Washington

Funeral services for Valerie Washington, 54, of Killeen, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at HarperTalasek Chapel in Killeen with the Rev. Joseph Dickerson officiating. Mrs. Washington died June 26, 2011, at a Temple nursing home. She was born April 23, 1957, in Philadelphia, Pa.

She received education in Philadelphia and then moved to Killeen in 1979. She was a homemaker and also worked at Fort Hood as a custodial worker for many years, as well as being a patient coordinator for the Scott White Dialysis Clinic in Killeen. She loved decorating and shopping QVC.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Hicks mother, Jean Thompson son, Jermaine Thompson and brother, William Hicks.

Survivors include daughters, Lamonda Thompson of Allentown, Pa., and Latasha Washington of Killeen brothers, James Thompson of Killeen, Percy Thompson of Philadelphia sister, Tyrina Thompson of Philadelphia seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen is in charge of arrangements.
