Veonia Lynn Providence-Coley (56) died from a stroke Sunday, July 28th in Temple, TX.
Lynn was born December 30, 1962 in Sacramento. She attended Norte Del Rio High School, enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the first Iraq War, earned her B.A. in Social Work from Tarleton State University/Texas A & M Central Texas, and was an adult protective services social worker for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
Lynn was preceded in death by her mother, Claudine Providence and brother, Donald Providence. She is survived by her children: Rukiya Dempsey, Warren “Monty” Burton, and Demarje Coley; Grandsons: Sammy Burton, Jamarion Dempsey, Jamier Dempsey, and Ja’Kaiden Dempsey; Children-in-Law: Joseph Dempsey and Nakisha Brutus; Parents: George and LaRita Providence; Sisters: June Robinson, Jeanette Providence, Carol Johnson, Denise Providence-Lezama, Gwen Oliver, and Johnette Henderson; Brothers: Kenneth Providence, Steven Providence, James Oliver, and Greg Oliver; Uncles: Willis Roberson, Kenneth and Donald Providence; Godmother: Lu Herndon; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends.
Memorial is set for 1 PM, Saturday, August 17th at Rivers of Living Waters Church, 508 N. Gray St., Killeen, TX.
