Services for Vivian Marie Parten will be 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the East Side Baptist Church in Killeen with Dr. John C. Hallum officiating. Burial will follow at Killeen City Cemetery. She was born December 5, 1935 on the Gault homestead in the Antelope community on the Cowhouse Creek in Coryell County to parents James Gault Ruby Hilliard Gault. She passed away on March 6, 2013 at the age of 77 following a short illness. Vivian was surrounded by her family.
Vivian is survived by her husband of 60 years, William A. Parten of Killeen, sons Durrett and Randy Parten of Killeen daughters Sandra Kite of Anchorage, Alaska, Martine and husband Leonard Bykowski of Temple, Janice and Ricky Smith of Goldthwaite, Texas sister Janie Leffingwell of Harrisonville, Missouri brothers Clayton Gault of Moody, Texas, and Mike Gault of Sherwood, Arkansas 10 grandchildren 17 great grandchildren and many cousins nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter in Alaska.
Vivian lived in Killeen all her life, except the few years her husband was in the Air Force and then at seminary. She was a homemaker all her life. She found joy in sewing clothes for her children and grandchildren. Vivian taught 3rd grade Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at East Side Baptist Church for many years. She took in ironing and sewing from the community. Vivian enjoyed helping raise her grandchildren and loved having them around. She was always available to her family, and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be 68 PM Friday at Harper Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen.
